Legacy software modernized
How TranzIndia moved from .NET and MS SQL to Java, PostgreSQL and REST APIs, migrated 17 GB without data loss and cut server charges by 60%.
Tranz / Engineering in practiceTranzIndia’s direct selling business had outgrown the software supporting it. We rebuilt the platform with Java, Spring Boot and PostgreSQL, migrated 17 GB of business data without data loss, and reduced server charges by 60%.

A connected application foundation
The system held years of business knowledge, but its architecture made it hard to improve performance, connect services or adapt to new requirements.
The legacy application ran on .NET and Microsoft SQL Server, with business rules embedded in stored procedures. Even small changes were difficult because application behaviour was tightly tied to the database.
The repository exceeded 1 GB, and the application relied on a server with 64 GB of RAM. Despite that capacity, processing was slow and the running costs were high.
The existing system had no API support, third-party integrations or AI capabilities. New services and automated workflows were difficult to introduce.
Teams spent time checking documents and managing work outside the core application. Finance relied on a separate Excel sheet, adding another operational handoff.
Our team prepared the solution architecture and migration plan before moving the application. The work had to account for the rules held in SQL stored procedures as well as the records accumulated over 17 years.
We rebuilt the backend with Java and Spring Boot, using PostgreSQL for data and REST APIs to connect application workflows. Loosely coupled modules made the platform easier to extend as requirements changed.
The migration transferred the existing Microsoft SQL Server data into the modernized platform without data loss. Preserving the business’s historical records was a central requirement of the migration plan.
React and Next.js support the web experience. The delivered stack also includes RATH ORM and the Tranz AI RAG model, giving the business a foundation for integrations, automation and AI capabilities.
The rebuild connects the public product experience, distributor application, service-centre workflows and finance operations.
PAN and bank verification APIs replaced document uploads and routine manual checking. RabbitMQ queues verification work, while match scores automate clear decisions and route borderline cases to a person.
Product discovery, ordering, wallets and PayU payment integration connect the distributor experience with business operations.
Genealogy, commissions, weekly payouts, ranks and trip achievements give distributors and operational teams a shared view of progress.
Finance moved into the application alongside operational reporting, reducing dependence on separate spreadsheets and disconnected records.
The modernized software runs faster while costing less to host. TranzIndia’s server charges fell by 60% after modernization.
Automated workflows reduced the manpower needed for manual processes. Staff can focus on exceptions and operational decisions, with borderline KYC matches still receiving human review.
The client reports that the platform supports more than 10,000 distributor registrations a day. Registration and completion of external verification checks are separate steps.
The related achievers platform gives distributor progress and rewards a visible place in operations. The supplied project brief reports 48% more revenue for that initiative.
Migration, performance and server-cost outcomes are reported by the Tranz project team. The revenue figure relates to the achievers initiative; its measurement period and methodology are not supplied.
The deployed platform brought architecture, backend engineering, frontend engineering, design and quality assurance into one delivery team.
Two backend developers and two frontend developers worked with a solutions architect, project manager and team lead.
A senior UI/UX designer, a UI/UX designer and two quality analysts completed the team.

“Tranz Technologies helped us modernise our 17-year-old legacy Direct Selling platform into a scalable, enterprise-grade system.
Today, it supports 10,000+ distributor registrations a day, automates KYC with zero manual intervention, and has streamlined several of our critical business processes.”
TranzIndia is a group company. The relationship began in 2024. In the documented KYC workflow, strong and low matches receive automated decisions; borderline matches need manual review. See the KYC workflow ↗
